Research Trends in Korean Medicine Treatment Using Ultrasound for Musculoskeletal Diseases : Focusing on Domestic Journals

Abstract

|
|
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the trends of korean medicine studies using ultrasound and to explore the direction of ultrasound research in the future.
Methods : The databases used were Google Scholar, National Digital Science Library (NDSL), Research Information Service System (RISS), Korea Studies Information Service System (KISS). The search terms were searched by combining words related to ultrasound and korean medicine. After that, only those related to the musculoskeletal system were selected. There were no restrictions on gender, age, race, or search period, and only studies published in domestic journals were included.
Results : A total of 12 studies were collected. Until recently, research has been actively conducted in university hospitals. The purpose of ultrasound was diagnosis, anatomical structure identification, and ultrasound guidance, and the study type was a case report or observational study. Ultrasound has been used along with acupotomy, pharmacopuncture and chuna manual therapy, and has been applied to various musculoskeletal disorders.
Conclusions : Various studies have been conducted on korean medical treatment using ultrasound for musculoskeletal disorders. In the future, research on ultrasound in various fields of korean medicine is needed, and the data and limitations of this study should be supplemented.
